Tasting notes

Bright garnet red. The nose opens with sweet cherry, pomegranate, wild flowers and aromatic herbs, with a light spicy touch. The palate is rich and structured, with firm yet refined Nebbiolo tannins and fresh acidity carrying the fruit. Long, savoury finish; decant before serving.

About this wine

Barolo Castiglione is the classic blended Barolo of Vietti, the historic estate based in Castiglione Falletto, in the heart of the Langhe hills of Piedmont. Rather than coming from a single cru, it brings together Nebbiolo from several of the appellation's most important villages.

The grapes are sourced from vineyards in Castiglione Falletto, Monforte d'Alba, Barolo and Novello, from vines between 7 and 35 years old. Blending these different soils and exposures gives a Barolo of balance and complexity that expresses the wider character of the zone.

The 2020 vintage is a structured, layered red with notes of sweet cherry, pomegranate, wild flowers and herbs. Decant it and let it open slowly in the glass, discovering it layer by layer.
