Tasting notes

Straw yellow with greenish tints. White acacia and jasmine open the nose, followed by pineapple, grapefruit, orange and juicy apple and pear, with a hint of mango. The palate is fresh and well balanced, good acidity set against a soft texture and a distinctly saline close.

About this wine

Tenuta Sant'Antonio is a Valpolicella estate run by the four Castagnedi brothers. The Scaia range was conceived as a modern alternative to the region's classic wines, drawn from hillside ridges north-east of Verona, close enough to the Alps for the nights to stay cool through the summer.

Scaia is dialect for the stony fragments of the limestone soil, and the name is a nod to the ground the vines grow in. This white blends Garganega with Chardonnay and is aged only in stainless steel, so the fruit and the salinity of the site come through unmasked.
