Tasting notes

Ruby with purple reflections. Ripe red fruit, liquorice, black pepper and a hint of chocolate. Soft, warm and elegant on the palate, with fine tannins and a long, velvety finish.

About this wine

Tenuta Sant'Antonio is a family winery in Valpolicella run by the four Castagnedi brothers, Massimo, Armando, Tiziano and Paolo.

Antonio Castagnedi is their Amarone, from vineyards in Monti Garbi, Mezzane di Sotto, at 300 metres on sandy clay soils with white limestone. The grapes, mainly Corvina and Corvinone with Rondinella, Croatina and Oseleta, are picked by hand and dried for around three months before pressing. The wine then ages for two years in new 500-litre French oak casks.

A warm, elegant Amarone of real depth, for important dinners.
