Tasting notes

Pale straw yellow with greenish highlights. The nose is fresh and concentrated, with citrus, almond and melon lifted by lavender and broom flower. The palate is soft and bright, the fruit vivid, with a Mediterranean mineral streak and a balanced, long finish.

About this wine

Altavilla della Corte is Firriato's varietal Grillo, grown at the Borgo Guarini estate in the province of Trapani, in western Sicily. The vineyards sit on hills at around 250 metres, on calcareous soils with a strong clay component and a south-westerly exposure.

The grapes are picked by hand between late August and early September. After a soft pressing the wine ferments in stainless steel and is then held three months on its fine lees, stirred daily, which gives it breadth across the palate without blunting the cut of the fruit.
