Tasting notes

Bright straw yellow with greenish glints. The nose offers citrus, white peach, Mediterranean herbs and a touch of flint from the amphora ageing. On the palate it is fresh and sapid, with lively acidity, a gentle creamy texture from the lees and a long, mineral finish with hints of sage and sea breeze.

About this wine

Lungocosta is the white Bolgheri of Caccia al Piano, the estate owned by the Ziliani family in Castagneto Carducci, at the heart of the Tuscan coast. Produced in limited quantities, it blends 70% Vermentino with 30% Sauvignon Blanc grown a few kilometres from the sea.

After fermentation the two varieties age separately for nine months in a mix of 10 hl casks, tonneaux, barriques and ceramic amphorae, followed by a further three months together after blending. The goal is a white wine with immediate appeal and real potential to develop in the bottle.

Fresh, aromatic and vibrant, Lungocosta expresses the Mediterranean character of the Bolgheri DOC in a single glass.
