How to serve it
Tasting notes
Pale straw yellow with green glints. The nose is bright and herbal, with citrus peel, green apple and a hint of aniseed and wild herbs. The palate is dry and taut, with firm acidity, a mineral core and good weight for its freshness. The finish is long and faintly saline.
About this wine
Cantina Zaccagnini was established in 1978 at Bolognano, on the Abruzzese slopes below the Majella. Each bottle leaves the cellar with a small vine shoot, the tralcetto, tied on by hand, and the name has come to mark the estate's everyday range.
Pecorino is an old Abruzzese white grape that had almost disappeared before growers brought it back in the late twentieth century. Here the grapes are pressed gently and fermented cool in stainless steel, with no oak, so the variety's naturally firm acidity and herbal character come through undisturbed.
The hills between the Adriatic and the mountains give the wine its saline edge.
