Tasting notes

Ruby red with violet reflections. The nose is intense and persistent, dominated by ripe red fruit and jam with a hint of Mediterranean scrub. The palate is full, warm and harmonious, with soft tannins and a long finish of ripe fruit and gentle spice.

About this wine

Is Solinas is one of the most representative reds of Argiolas, the family winery that helped bring Sardinian wine to international attention. It is dedicated to Carignano, the grape of the Sulcis area in the south-west of the island, where vines grow on sandy soils mixed with clay and sandstone.

After fermentation and a maceration of 10 to 12 days, the wine completes malolactic fermentation in concrete and is then transferred to barriques for ageing before release as a Riserva.

The warm climate and poor soils give a wine of generous ripe fruit and warmth, full and harmonious on the palate, with the jammy depth that makes Carignano del Sulcis so distinctive.
