Tasting notes

Deep ruby. Crunchy red fruit and cherry on the nose, often with a light smoky nuance. The palate is round and soft, with smooth tannins, juicy fruit and a fresh, mineral finish.

About this wine

Château Cartier comes from the team behind Château Fonroque, a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé on clay-limestone soils, certified organic and biodynamic and regarded as a pioneer of biodynamics among the classified estates.

The wine is made from 17.6 hectares of vines with an average age of around 30 years, and annual production ranges between 25,000 and 35,000 bottles. Merlot is the backbone, often 100% of the blend, and the wine is aged 75% in oak barrels and 25% in vats.

Rounder and softer than Fonroque, it offers a smooth, fresh and approachable taste of Saint-Émilion.
