Tasting notes

A mature Bordeaux in magnum, garnet with developing brick tones. The nose shows evolved notes of dried dark fruit, cedar, leather and earth. The palate is mellow and harmonious, with softened tannins and a savoury, lingering finish. Decant gently before serving.

About this wine

Château Citran is a Haut-Médoc estate with more than 100 hectares of vines in production, around a third of them farmed organically. From the 13th century until 1832 it belonged to the Donissan de Citran family, and since 1996 it has been owned by the Merlaut family. The château itself was listed as a historic monument in 2012.

This 2000 Cru Bourgeois comes in magnum, a format in which wine ages more slowly and evenly. After more than two decades it has entered its mature phase, and careful decanting before serving is recommended.
