Tasting notes

Mature garnet with brick tones. Intense, elegant aromas of dried blackcurrant, cedar, tobacco and earthy, truffle-like notes. Soft, evolved fruit on the palate, silky tannins and a long, refined finish. Decant gently before serving.

About this wine

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is a Second Growth in Saint-Julien, set beside the Gironde estuary. Its name comes from "beaux cailloux", the beautiful pebbles of Günz-era quartz gravel that cover the vineyards. In more than 300 years of history the estate has belonged to six families: Dejean, Bergeron, Ducru, Johnston, Desbarat and Borie.

The grand vin is known for intense, elegant aromas, soft fruit, silky tannins and a long finish. The 1986 is a rare mature bottle with decades in the cellar, best decanted gently before serving.
