Tasting notes

Deep, dark colour. Generous, ripe blackcurrant and black fruit on the nose, framed by cedar and spice. The palate is rich and opulent, with ripe tannins and a long finish; enjoyable already, with the structure to keep developing for many years.

About this wine

Château Lynch-Bages is a Fifth Growth of Pauillac, owned by the Cazes family since 1939, when Jean-Charles Cazes took over the estate. Its 90 hectares of vines grow on the gravel soils that shape the great wines of the Médoc.

2009 was the first vintage in which parcel-by-parcel picking was guided by satellite images of grape ripeness, and 68% of the crop was selected for the grand vin. The blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot spent 15 months in French oak, 70% new, giving a rich, opulent Pauillac built for very long ageing.
