Tasting notes

Deep, dark colour. An elegant nose of white flowers that opens with air to ripe black fruit, smoke and roasted notes. The palate is velvety, with silky tannins and a very long finish showing hints of oak and liquorice.

About this wine

Château Montrose is a Second Grand Cru Classé of the 1855 classification, with about 95 hectares of vines in Saint-Estèphe arranged on terraces sloping down to the Gironde estuary. The grand vin comes from the historic Terrace 4, where the first vines were planted in 1815.

The 2015 blends 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc, aged 18 months in French oak barrels, 60% of them new.

A dry summer and well-drained soils gave concentrated, balanced grapes, and the result is a classic, long-lived Montrose from a very successful Left Bank vintage.
