Tasting notes

Deep garnet with a slight bricking rim. The nose shows blackcurrant, black cherry and cedar with graphite, cigar box and earthy notes. The palate is powerful and dense, with firm, ripe tannins now softening, fresh acidity and a long, savoury finish.

About this wine

Château Montrose is a Second Grand Cru Classé of the 1855 classification, with about 95 hectares of vines in Saint-Estèphe arranged on terraces sloping down to the Gironde estuary.

The grand vin comes from the historic Terrace 4, where the first vines were planted back in 1815. Cabernet Sauvignon is the heart of the estate, which is committed to organic farming, and gives Montrose its famously firm, long-lived structure.

2005, one of the greatest Bordeaux vintages of recent decades, makes this a bottle for lovers of mature Médoc that is now entering its prime.
