Tasting notes

Deep, dark garnet. The nose is airy and floral, with crushed strawberry, blackcurrant, graphite and a hint of mint. The palate is full and silky, with fully integrated tannins, generous juicy fruit and a long, refined finish of dark fruit and graphite. Built for long ageing.

About this wine

Château Pontet-Canet was ranked as a Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 classification and farms 81 hectares of vines in Pauillac on Quaternary gravel soils, with an average vine age of around 50 years. The estate is certified organic (Ecocert) and biodynamic (Biodyvin, Demeter), a pioneer of this approach among the great Médoc châteaux.

The 2015 blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. The grapes are hand-picked into small crates and fermented with indigenous yeasts, and the wine ages for 16 to 18 months in oak barrels and concrete amphorae.

The result is a Pauillac of remarkable purity, combining depth and power with an airy, silky elegance.
