Tasting notes

Bright straw yellow with golden reflections. The nose offers white peach, lemon zest and acacia blossom, lifted by hazelnut and a touch of vanilla from the barrel. The palate is rounded and creamy, yet held together by a firm line of citrus acidity, closing on a long, chalky finish with a distinctly saline echo.

About this wine

Although Domaine Joblot built its reputation on red Givry, the estate's white wines have quietly become some of the most sought-after of the Côte Chalonnaise. Jean-Marc and Vincent Joblot farm their parcels with the same obsessive attention they give the Pinot Noir, picking early enough to keep tension in the fruit.

En Veau is a Premier Cru site planted to Chardonnay on marl and limestone. Whole-bunch pressing, fermentation and ageing in oak barrels with regular lees stirring give the wine body and a creamy texture, while the cool exposure preserves its saline backbone.

A white Burgundy of real precision, drinking beautifully now and capable of several more years.
