Tasting notes

Pale lemon with silver highlights. The nose is bright and precise, with grapefruit, blackcurrant leaf, white flowers and a distinct struck-flint note. The palate is dry and tightly drawn, the citrus fruit framed by crisp acidity and a chalky grip, finishing long and saline with a cool, stony aftertaste typical of the Loire.

About this wine

Domaine Vacheron is one of the great names of Sancerre, farmed by the same family since the nineteenth century and today run by cousins Jean-Laurent and Jean-Dominique. The estate has worked biodynamically for two decades, with horses still used in the steepest parcels.

This is the house Sancerre, blended from plots spread across the appellation's three classic soil types: the limestone pebbles of the caillottes, the Kimmeridgian marl of the terres blanches and the flint of the silex. Sauvignon Blanc is picked by hand and fermented slowly in temperature-controlled vats, then aged on its lees without oak.
