Tasting notes

Intense ruby red. The nose is captivating, with ripe cherry, plum, sweet spice and a touch of earth. The palate is full-bodied and generous, with soft fruit, rounded tannins and a fresh, lingering finish.

About this wine

Pietradolce is the Faro family estate in Solicchiata, near Castiglione di Sicilia, on the northern slope of Mount Etna. Feudo di Mezzo comes from the oldest part of the estate's vineyard in the contrada of the same name, at around 650 metres, with pre-phylloxera Nerello Mascalese bush vines about 80 years old.

After around 18 days of maceration in tulip-shaped concrete vats and a gentle pressing, the wine ages for 14 months in fine, lightly toasted oak.

It is the fullest of the Pietradolce crus: intense, generous and soft, yet still carrying Etna's freshness.
