Tasting notes

Bright ruby red. An enveloping bouquet of ripe cherry, wild strawberry, resin, sweet spice and autumn leaves. The palate is velvety and supple, with the softest tannins of the estate's crus, juicy acidity and a warm, persistent finish of red fruit and gentle smoke.

About this wine

Tenuta delle Terre Nere is the estate of Marco de Grazia in Contrada Calderara, Randazzo, on the northern slope of Mount Etna. Feudo di Mezzo, in Castiglione di Sicilia, is perhaps the largest contrada of the Etna DOC zone, with vines of 40 to 80 years at around 650 metres on deep volcanic soils dominated by ash.

Here the grapes are harvested first, and the site gives the estate's most open and gentle wines. The 100% Nerello Mascalese ages in French oak barriques and tonneaux, 20% new.

The result is a velvety red with the softest tannins among the estate's crus, an enveloping, spicy and resinous bouquet with autumnal nuances, and 14.5% alcohol carried with ease.
