Tasting notes

Ruby red of medium depth. A sensual, almost fleshy bouquet of ripe red cherry, plum, orange peel, sweet spice and warm volcanic earth. The palate is rich and enveloping yet clean and balanced, with silky tannins, fresh acidity and a long, gentle finish of red fruit and spice.

About this wine

Tenuta delle Terre Nere is the estate of Marco de Grazia in Contrada Calderara, Randazzo, on the northern slope of Mount Etna. Santo Spirito, in Castiglione di Sicilia, borders Guardiola and slopes down towards the Alcantara river, with vines of 40 to 100 years at 700–850 metres on deep soils almost entirely of volcanic ash.

The 100% Nerello Mascalese ages for 14 months in barriques, tonneaux and large French oak casks, 20% new, following the estate's Burgundian approach to the volcano's grape.

Sensual and juicy, with an almost fleshy bouquet and a rich, enveloping palate, Santo Spirito is at once clean and balanced, refined and gentle. 14.5% alcohol.
