Tasting notes

Intense, bright straw yellow. The nose is warm and long, with honey, hazelnut and toasted almond. On the palate it shows light minerality with a flinty edge, walnut, exotic fruit and grapefruit, with a long, layered finish. Open in advance and serve in wide glasses.

About this wine

La Scolca is a family estate in Gavi, in south-eastern Piedmont, where four generations have devoted themselves to the Cortese grape and helped build the reputation of the appellation. "D'Antan" is the most special release of the Gavi dei Gavi family, produced only in great vintages.

The grapes come from the oldest vineyards used for "Etichetta Nera". The wine then ages for around ten years, mainly in stainless steel on its own fine lees, before it is released, developing a depth and complexity rarely found in Cortese.

It is a rare, contemplative white that shows how far the grape of Gavi can go with time. Presented here in a 1.5 l magnum.
