Tasting notes

Pale straw yellow with green reflections. The nose is intense and long, from fruity to floral. The palate is broad and savoury, with flint, Mediterranean herbs and citrus, finishing on almond and walnut. Lees ageing gives it a creamy texture and remarkable length.

About this wine

La Scolca is a family estate in Gavi, in south-eastern Piedmont, where four generations have devoted themselves to the Cortese grape and helped build the reputation of the appellation. The "Etichetta Nera Gold Edition" is a special release of the estate's iconic Gavi dei Gavi.

It comes from a selection of the estate's most mature vineyards, some of them up to 60 years old. The must ferments at low temperature with partial skin contact, then the wine rests on its own lees in stainless steel until bottling, gaining texture without any oak.

Broad, saline and long, with flinty and herbal tones and an almond finish, it is presented here in a 1.5 l magnum, a fine choice for a festive table.
