Tasting notes

Deep ruby with violet glints. The nose offers spice, red fruit and fine oak. The palate is powerful and tannic, with blackcurrant and vanilla, closing on a long finish of liquorice and spice.

About this wine

E. Guigal was founded in 1946 in Ampuis and, over three generations, has become a leading family name of the Rhône Valley, based today at Château d'Ampuis.

Its Hermitage comes from vines averaging around 30 years old on limestone clay, silt and sandy gravel, with low yields of about 35 hl/ha. Made from 100% Syrah, it ages for 36 months in oak barrels, half of them new. Powerful and tannic, with blackcurrant, spice and liquorice, it has the stuffing to age for around 15 years.
