Tasting notes

Bright ruby colour. Sour cherry, violet and wild herbs on the nose with subtle spice from oak. The palate is elegant and firm, with vibrant acidity, fine-grained tannins and a long, savoury finish typical of great Sangiovese.

About this wine

Isole e Olena is a historic estate in the hills of Barberino, in the Chianti Classico area of Tuscany, made famous by Paolo De Marchi, who led it for decades and became one of the great champions of Sangiovese.

Cepparello, first produced in 1980, is the estate's flagship: a 100% Sangiovese from its best vineyard selections, bottled as Toscana IGT so that it could be made from Sangiovese alone, at a time when the Chianti rules still required a blend. It is aged in small oak barrels.

This large Jeroboam format of 3 litres ages slowly and gracefully, making it a spectacular centrepiece for celebrations and collectors.
