Tasting notes

Deep ruby-purple. Highly aromatic, with blackcurrant, black cherry, violet and cedar. The palate is powerful yet silky, with ripe, fine-grained tannins, excellent balance and a long, refined finish.

About this wine

La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou is the second wine of Château Ducru-Beaucaillou, a Second Growth of Saint-Julien owned by the Borie family. The estate's name comes from "beaux cailloux", the beautiful pebbles of quartz gravel that cover its vineyards along the Gironde estuary.

The château itself presents this wine as an introduction to the Borie style. The blend is traditionally led by Cabernet Sauvignon, completed by Merlot and Petit Verdot.

From the outstanding 2018 vintage, it is powerful, silky and highly aromatic, impressing with its balance, finesse and long finish: classic Saint-Julien elegance at a more accessible level.
