How to serve it
Tasting notes
Golden yellow with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose opens on lightly toasted bread, fresh butter, ripe apple and citrus. The palate is generous and vinous thanks to the Pinot Noir, balanced by lively acidity and chalky freshness, with a clean, toasty finish.
About this wine
Mailly Grand Cru is a growers' house in the village of Mailly-Champagne, in the Montagne de Reims natural park, where vines have been cultivated since the 13th century. Its 70 hectares are all classified Grand Cru, a status shared by only 17 of Champagne's 319 villages.
Brut Réserve blends 75% Pinot Noir with 25% Chardonnay from these hillside plots, where the chalky subsoil regulates moisture and temperature. The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented at 16 °C, with malolactic fermentation in stainless steel, and the wine then ages on its lees in the house's traditional chalk cellars.
Golden in colour, with notes of lightly toasted bread and fresh butter, it is a versatile Champagne rated 90 points by Wine Enthusiast.
