Tasting notes

Pale straw yellow with green highlights. The nose offers citron, green apple and pear, framed by white flowers such as wisteria, chamomile and lily, with a faint hint of pineapple. The palate is very fresh and clean, with a marked mineral streak, good balance and a citrus-driven, lingering finish.

About this wine

Pomino Bianco is born at Castello Pomino, the mountain estate of the Frescobaldi family in the hills north-east of Florence, where the vineyards climb to around 700 metres above sea level. The cool climate and the forest surroundings give the wine a freshness and a mineral edge that are unusual for Tuscany.

The blend is based on Chardonnay with Pinot Bianco. Most of the wine ferments and rests in stainless steel to keep its aromatic clarity, while a small share ferments in French oak barriques to add texture and complexity, before a few months in bottle.

Pomino was one of the first Italian areas to plant French varieties in the 19th century, and this white remains a benchmark of the appellation.
