Tasting notes

Deep ruby. Dark cherry, blackberry and plum with earthy, spicy notes from clay. Textured and full on the palate, with ripe tannins and a long, savoury finish.

About this wine

Alexandra Estate's Rubin is vinified in large Georgian qvevri – oval clay vessels of 2,500 litres, buried in the ground where the temperature stays constant, following Caucasian tradition.

Qvevri winemaking, used for some 8,000 years, was inscribed by UNESCO as cultural heritage in 2013. The 2020 Rubin shows dark fruit with an earthy, textured profile. Serve at 16–18 °C.
