Tasting notes

Deep ruby-purple. The nose offers blackberry, cassis, violet, black pepper, smoke and a touch of vanilla. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with ripe dark fruit, firm yet fine tannins, fresh acidity and a long, peppery, mineral finish.

About this wine

E. Guigal was founded in 1946 by Étienne Guigal in Ampuis, at the foot of the Côte-Rôtie slopes, and has become the reference name of the Rhône Valley, from legendary single-vineyard wines to benchmark village appellations.

Saint-Joseph stretches along the steep granite slopes of the right bank of the northern Rhône. Guigal's red is made entirely from Syrah and aged in oak barrels, giving a wine of depth and finesse. The 2020 shows ripe black fruit, floral notes and the smoky, peppery minerality of granite soils.

Excellent with grilled and roasted meats.
