Tasting notes

Deep red colour. Aromas of ripe plum, cherry jam, cocoa and spices. The palate is soft and full, with ripe tannins, generous fruit and a smooth vanilla finish.

About this wine

Varvaglione is a winery in Leporano near Taranto, in Puglia, that puts native grapes first and works them with modern techniques.

The wines of the "12 e Mezzo" range have a moderate 12.5% alcohol, to show the fruit and drinkability of Salento's varieties. This Primitivo undergoes temperature-controlled maceration and malolactic fermentation, followed by ageing in oak and in bottle.

The 2022 is soft and full, with ripe plum and cherry fruit, a hint of cocoa and a vanilla finish: a smooth, generous Primitivo for the table.
