Tasting notes

Deep ruby colour. Full and complex, with dark berry fruit, a lively hint of fresh mint and intriguing notes of Mediterranean scrub. On the palate the tannins and acidity are well integrated, giving structure, freshness and a long, savoury finish.

About this wine

Tenuta Argentiera sits in Castagneto Carducci, on the Tuscan coast of Bolgheri. "Villa Donoratico" comes from vineyards at 30–80 metres above sea level on continental sandy soils rich in limestone, marl and claystone.

The blend is 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot. The grapes are hand-picked and ferment with long maceration in steel tanks.

The wine then ages 80% in 500-litre French and Austrian oak tonneaux and 20% in 225-litre French barriques, followed by a period of rest in bottle before release.
