Tasting notes

Deep ruby. An expressive nose of red fruit and cherries in spirit. The palate has good structure and softness, with ripe tannins, fresh acidity and a fruity, lingering finish.

About this wine

Castello di Volpaia is a medieval fortified village near Radda in Chianti, documented as early as 1172, where the Mascheroni Stianti family farms its vineyards organically and keeps its cellars inside the walls of the village itself.

This Chianti Classico comes from ten plots between 400 and 600 metres above sea level on sandstone soils. It is mostly Sangiovese with 10% Merlot and ages for 12 months in large casks of around 30 hectolitres.

The magnum is a splendid format for a festive table, and it lets the 2019 vintage evolve slowly and gracefully.
