Tasting notes

Deep golden yellow. The nose shows exotic fruit, yellow peach, dried apricot, lightly toasted hazelnut and almond, sweet spice and honey. The palate is full, round and velvety, with a long finish. Fresh acidity and a mineral, saline thread keep it balanced, and it can age well for a decade or more.

About this wine

Pieropan is a family estate in Soave, in the Veneto, whose history began in 1880 and has been shaped by four generations of growers; its vineyards are certified organic.

"La Rocca" comes from the Monte Rocchetta hill beside the Scaliger castle of Soave, on limestone soil of marine origin rich in clay. The Garganega is hand-picked late, often in two passes, with partial noble botrytis, and the wine ages for about 12 months on fine lees in French and Slavonian oak, then several months in bottle.

It is one of the great single-vineyard whites of Italy.
