Tasting notes

Deep ruby. The nose shows black cherry, plum, blackberry jam, dark chocolate, leather, coffee, black pepper, cinnamon and clove with a balsamic lift. The palate is round, structured and harmonious, with great freshness and a long finish. It will keep evolving in the cellar for many years.

About this wine

Pieropan is a family estate in Soave, in the Veneto, whose history began in 1880 and has been shaped by four generations of growers; its vineyards are certified organic.

The house makes its Amarone from the Monte Garzon vineyard in Cellore d'Illasi, planted in 2000 on pink limestone with clay and gypsum. The blend is 60% Corvina, 30% Corvinone, 5% Rondinella and 5% Croatina; the hand-picked grapes dry naturally for about 60 days, and in poor years no wine is made.

It is a structured, fresh Amarone with great ageing potential.
