Tasting notes

Medium-intensity ruby colour. The nose weaves cherry, strawberry, herbs and spice with a light earthy note. The palate is fresh and juicy, with soft tannins and a dry, clean finish.

About this wine

Andrea Occhipinti grows his vines in Gradoli, on the north-western shore of Lake Bolsena in northern Lazio. The small estate farms around five to six hectares organically on volcanic soils at about 450 metres above sea level, and Occhipinti is known for reviving the native grape varieties of the area, above all Aleatico.

"Arcaico" is his organic red from Aleatico, a fresh and honest expression of volcanic terroir. It combines red fruit, herbs and spice with an earthy touch, soft tannins and a dry finish, a versatile wine for the table.
