Tasting notes

Deep red, almost black at the core. The nose opens on red and wild berries with violet and the peppery, savoury edge typical of the variety. The palate is full and fruit-driven, natural and intense in character, with supple tannins and a long, very drinkable finish.

About this wine

The Caeles Syrah comes from Firriato's own organically farmed fruit at the Baglio Sorìa estate in western Sicily. The vineyards lie on hillsides at 250 metres with a southern exposure and clay-limestone soils, and the grapes are picked in the second week of September.

Fermentation runs on selected indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, followed by three months in second- and third-use French barrels, which give the wine shape without adding oak flavour. The wine is also suitable for vegans.
