Tasting notes

Bright cherry pink, true to the name cerasuolo. The nose is clean and inviting, with wild strawberry, morello cherry and a light floral lift. The palate is dry and crisp, the red fruit carried by fresh acidity and a faint almond bitterness on the close. A medium, refreshing finish.

About this wine

Cantina Zaccagnini has worked the hills of Bolognano, in Abruzzo, since 1978, and its bottles are known by the small hand-tied vine shoot — the tralcetto — attached to each neck. Tralcetto is also the name of the estate's everyday range.

Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo is the region's traditional rosé, made from Montepulciano grapes given only brief contact with the skins. The juice is drawn off early to capture colour and aroma without tannin, then fermented at low temperature in stainless steel to protect its freshness.

The vineyards sit between the Adriatic coast and the Majella mountains, a setting that keeps acidity lively through the warm Abruzzese summer.
