Tasting notes

Deep garnet. Fresh aromas of dark berries, cedar and spice open up with air. The palate is smooth and pleasant, with bright fruit carried by strong, long tannins, and a lingering, complex finish typical of mature Saint-Estèphe.

About this wine

Château Cos d'Estournel is a Second Growth in the 1855 classification, located in Saint-Estèphe. Founded by Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel, the estate is famous for its pagoda-style architecture and for a cellar that works entirely by gravity.

The 2006 is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, at 78%, completed by 20% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. According to the estate, the vintage needed time to open up and today it is pleasant and smooth, with strong, long tannins, fresh aromas and bright fruit: a wine for true lovers of mature Bordeaux.
