Tasting notes

Deep ruby. Aromas of blackcurrant, black cherry, violet, cedar and a touch of mint and toasted oak. The palate is medium to full-bodied and elegant, with ripe, fine-grained tannins, fresh acidity and a long finish of dark fruit and graphite.

About this wine

Château d'Armailhac is a Fifth Growth of Pauillac owned by Baron Philippe de Rothschild, the family behind neighbouring Château Mouton Rothschild. Its vineyards on deep gravel soils produce an elegant, fragrant Pauillac with a notable share of Cabernet Franc.

The 2016 is led by Cabernet Sauvignon, completed by 35% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, and aged in French oak barrels. From a superb vintage, it offers ripe fruit, fine tannins and real freshness.

Lovely now with decanting, and with ample ageing potential.
