Tasting notes

Deep garnet. Aromas of blackcurrant, dark plum, cedar and toasty oak, with developing notes of tobacco and spice. The palate is full and structured, with firm, refined tannins and a long, savoury finish that shows its great cellaring potential.

About this wine

Château Gruaud Larose is a Second Growth of the 1855 classification in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle. The estate has 82 hectares of vines on Quaternary Garonne gravels, with an average age of 46 years, farmed entirely along organic and biodynamic principles. It is owned by Jean Merlaut.

The grand vin blends Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot and is aged 18 to 24 months in fine French oak barrels, 80% of them new. Built for long cellaring, the 2015 already has ten years in bottle.
