Tasting notes

Deep ruby-garnet. The nose shows remarkable finesse: cassis, violet and rose with cedar, graphite and sweet spice. The palate has rich tannins and a dense, velvety texture, balanced by freshness, leading to a long, lifted finish.

About this wine

Château Margaux is one of the four estates ranked Premier Grand Cru Classé in 1855 and the only one to receive the maximum score of 20/20 at the time. It has belonged to the Mentzelopoulos family since 1977, and its neo-Palladian château is known as the "Versailles of the Médoc".

The 2006 blends 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, aged on average 21 months in new French oak. Selection was strict: only about 36% of the harvest went into the grand vin.
