Tasting notes

Bright violet-ruby. Crunchy blackcurrant, blueberry and damson on the nose, with graphite, bay leaf and a floral lift. The palate is juicy and light on its feet, with supple tannin, lively acidity and no oak character at all. The finish is clean and moderately long, leaving dark berries and a faint stony bitterness.

About this wine

Château Peybonhomme-Les Tours sits in Blaye on the right bank of the Gironde, where the Hubert family has farmed since the nineteenth century. The estate has been certified organic and biodynamic for years and is one of the larger biodynamic properties in Bordeaux.

Énergies is its unoaked red, built mainly on Merlot with Cabernet from the estate's limestone and clay slopes. Fermentation takes place in concrete with indigenous yeasts and the wine is raised in tank, so the fruit arrives unmasked and sulphur additions stay very low.

A fresh, drinkable biodynamic Bordeaux with none of the usual oak.
