Tasting notes

Garnet with a bricking rim. Aromas of blackcurrant, red plum, cedar, graphite, tobacco leaf and forest floor. The palate is medium-bodied and silky, with mellowed tannins, lively acidity and a long, elegant finish of dark fruit, spice and savoury earth.

About this wine

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is a Second Growth of Pauillac on the border with Saint-Julien. Its vineyards, some facing Château Latour, combine gravel over clay, and a notable share of Merlot gives the wine its famous silkiness and perfume.

The 2008 blends Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot from a cool, late vintage rescued by a sunny autumn. Aged in French oak barrels, it shows freshness and classic Pauillac tension, now softened by fifteen years in bottle.

A refined, mature claret ready to enjoy.
