Tasting notes

Deep, dense purple-ruby. Black fruit, a mineral nuance and well-integrated oak on the nose. The palate is full and concentrated, with firm, ripe tannins, fresh acidity and a long finish that gains complexity with age.

About this wine

Château Sociando-Mallet lies in Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne, north of Pauillac, on the Baleyron hill overlooking the Gironde estuary. The estate covers 120 hectares, 83 of them vineyards on gravel over a clay-limestone base, with vines averaging 35 years of age.

Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc are fermented with native yeasts, aged in entirely new French oak barrels, left unfined and only very lightly filtered.

Long regarded as one of the Médoc's great unclassified estates, Sociando-Mallet makes deep, concentrated wines that are firm in youth and gain balance and complexity with time.
