Tasting notes

Deep ruby colour. A complex nose of red and dark berries, spice and earthy undertones. The palate is layered and profound, with fine-grained tannins, lively acidity and a long, persistent finish that will keep developing for many years.

About this wine

Clos de Tart is a Grand Cru monopole in Morey-Saint-Denis, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits: 7.53 hectares of vines enclosed by a stone wall 1.2 km long. Unusually for the Côte d'Or, the rows run north to south, across the slope rather than down it.

The vines average around 60 years of age, and some are more than a century old. The clay-limestone soil, more calcareous at the foot of the slope and richer in marl higher up, gives Pinot Noir of great depth and complexity.

The 2017 is a Grand Cru with long ageing potential that rewards patience and benefits from decanting before serving.
