Tasting notes

Deep ruby-purple. The nose offers blackberry, black cherry, raspberry, black pepper, garrigue herbs and a touch of liquorice. The palate is round and generous, with ripe fruit, soft tannins, good freshness and a spicy, lingering finish.

About this wine

E. Guigal was founded in 1946 by Étienne Guigal in Ampuis, at the foot of the Côte-Rôtie slopes, and has become the reference name of the Rhône Valley, from legendary single-vineyard wines to benchmark everyday bottlings.

The Côtes du Rhône Rouge is one of the most consistent wines of its kind. Unusually for the appellation, it is driven by Syrah, blended with Grenache and Mourvèdre and aged in oak foudres in Guigal's cellars. The warm 2019 vintage gives ripe, generous fruit with a peppery Rhône character.
