Tasting notes

Deep salmon pink with copper glints. Citrus zest, strawberry, wild raspberry, peach and gentle spice. Dense and layered on the palate, with chalky character and a finish of citrus and redcurrant. Fine, creamy bubbles and lively freshness carry a long, elegant finish that shows the maturity of the vintage.

About this wine

The house of Billecart-Salmon was founded in 1818 in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ after the marriage of Nicolas François Billecart and Elisabeth Salmon. Cuvée Elisabeth Salmon was created in 1988 in her honour and is the house's prestige vintage rosé, made only from Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards.

The 2008 blends 55 percent Pinot Noir with 45 percent Chardonnay. Part of the wine ferments in oak, and a little Pinot Noir from the old Valofroy plot is vinified as red wine. Dosage is 7 g/l.
