Tasting notes

Dark ruby, almost opaque at the core. Black cherry, blackcurrant and crushed violet lead the nose, followed by liquorice, graphite and fine cedar spice. The palate is broad and deeply concentrated, with velvety tannins and a savoury mineral thread running beneath the fruit. The finish is long, firm and still tightly coiled.

About this wine

L'Empreinte is Domaine Joblot's signature cuvée, a selection of the estate's oldest Pinot Noir vines in the Premier Cru vineyards of Givry. Jean-Marc and Vincent Joblot keep yields severely low here, and the wine carries the imprint of both the site and the family that farms it.

The clay-limestone slopes of the Côte Chalonnaise give fruit of unusual concentration. After a long maceration, the wine spends its élevage in oak barrels, with a higher proportion of new wood than the estate's other cuvées, lending polish to an already dense structure.

Powerful yet elegant, this is a Givry built for the long haul.
