Tasting notes

Greenish-yellow. An intense nose of nettle and blackcurrant with hints of citrus. The palate is dry and round, true to the variety, with crisp acidity and a clean, aromatic finish.

About this wine

Cantina Valle Isarco is a cooperative of around 135 grower members in the Eisacktal, the narrow valley that forms the northernmost wine area of Alto Adige. Its Classic line is designed to express each grape variety clearly and with freshness.

Sauvignon Blanc arrived in Alto Adige about a century ago and only more recently in the Isarco valley. For this wine it grows in the lower part of the valley, on warm, deep alluvial soils rich in porphyry, with a south-east exposure that protects the vines from frost. The grapes are picked at the end of September, gently crushed and fermented at controlled temperature, then aged on fine lees in stainless steel without malolactic fermentation.
