Tasting notes

Pale straw yellow with greenish hints. The nose shows citrus, white flowers and a flinty, volcanic note. The palate is fresh, lively and taut, driven by bright acidity and a savoury mineral streak, finishing clean and very drinkable.

About this wine

Pietradolce is the Faro family estate in Solicchiata, near Castiglione di Sicilia, on the northern slope of Mount Etna. Its Etna Bianco is made from Carricante, the island's great white grape, grown as free-standing bush vines (alberello) at 700-800 metres on sandy soils rich in volcanic stones.

The grapes are picked by hand and pressed gently, and the wine then rests for a few months in stainless steel, which keeps the focus on the freshness and mineral tension that the volcano gives to Carricante.

The result is a decisive, lively and very drinkable white, a precise snapshot of high-altitude Etna viticulture.
