Tasting notes

Bright straw yellow with green highlights. The nose is expressive, with elderflower, sage, tomato leaf, grapefruit and white peach, joined by a mineral, flinty note. The palate is full and tense at the same time, with fresh acidity, a saline grip and a long, aromatic finish of citrus and herbs.

About this wine

Piere is the Sauvignon of Vie di Romans, from the vineyard of the same name in Mariano del Friuli, in the Rive Alte sub-zone of Friuli Isonzo. The 11.5 hectares of vines grow on gravelly clay soils with conglomerate, and the 2023 grapes were picked between 8 and 12 September.

The wine is 100% Sauvignon Blanc, fermented without malolactic conversion to keep its fresh acidity. It rests on its lees for eight months and then a further ten months in bottle before release, a long maturation that is unusual for the variety.

Piere is an expressive, structured Sauvignon with real ageing potential: the producer expects it to peak around its eighth year.
